Build Season: Day 38 (2/13/2012)
We got some sweet values for detecting skew. We set up an experiment where we rotated the backboard every set degrees and took a snapshot. This turned out to be a great way to experimentally find skew. Interestingly enough, our data fit a cosine function very closely. After further research, we found that it is in fact a cosine function with a constant of “1.” The animated gif image is below. (Coming Soon)
We began and almost finished the circular grooves in our large sprockets that will function as a custom lazy susan. We also turned more parts on the lathe (yes this is the correct terminology), fixed our gear boxes, and began mounting bumpers.
